Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take a tincture?

Simply follow the instructions on your bottle and take the recommended dose directly on your tongue or in a few ounces of water (don't forget to give the bottle a shake first). Some tinctures like our bitters formulas are delicious in sparkling water or in cocktails - so feel free to have fun and get creative!

What is the shelf life of your products?

The shelf life varies from product to product. Each remedy is marked with a Lot Number which includes the batch number followed by the month and year it was made (example 04-052020). Tinctures are best consumed within 2 years of the date they were created. Oxymels, salves, oils and teas are best within 1 year.

So do tinctures expire?

Tinctures don't ever really expire - but they do tend to lose their potency over time. We recommend that you consume your tincture within two years from when the tincture was made. To ensure that your tincture stays as fresh and potent as possible, store away from heat, light, and moisture.

This salve is over a year old, is it still safe to use?

The best way to know if a salve has gone bad is by smell. When oil goes rancid it tends to smell like crayons - kind of stale and waxy. If you think your salve has gone bad, do not use it! To keep your salve staying fresh, store tightly capped and away from heat, light, and moisture.

Are your products safe during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding?

Some yes and some no! We recommend that you talk with your health care provider before beginning any new herbal regimen.
