Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take a tincture?

Simply check out the instructions on your bottle, shake, and take the recommended dose directly on your tongue or in a few ounces of water or tea. One dropper full contains 30 drops, or 1 milliliter. Some tinctures like our bitters formulas are delicious in sparkling water or in cocktails - so feel free to have fun and get creative!

What is the shelf life of your products?

The shelf life varies from product to product. Tinctures are best consumed within 2 years of the date they were created (although they're technically good for up to 5 years if stored properly). Oxymels and teas are best within 2 years, and salves and oils are best within 1 year. Each remedy is marked with a lot number which includes the batch number followed by the month and year it was made (example 04-052020). **Newer products have a best by sticker on the bottom!

To keep your medicines staying fresh, store tightly capped and away from heat, light, and moisture.

This salve is over a year old, is it still okay to use?

The best way to know if a salve has gone bad is by smell. This is one of the main reasons we do not use essential oils in our body care remedies - they can mask the smell of rancid oil! When oil goes rancid it tends to smell like crayons - kind of stale and waxy. If you think your salve has gone bad, don't use it!

Are your products safe during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding?

Some yes and some no! We recommend that you talk with your health care provider before beginning any new herbal regimen if you're pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

What if I'm not pregnant, does that mean that this formula is safe for me to take?

Yes, generally speaking herbs are safe, but it's always best to check with your health care provider first if you take medication or have other health issues. Drug interaction checkers like this one can also be helpful for reference.

Are your products gluten free?

Yes - all of our tinctures are gluten free as we only use neutral spirits or brandy.

Where do you source your herbs?

We source most of our herbs from our own backyard! We believe that fresh is best, so we try and grow as many herbs as we can on the small bit of land we have. When we don't grow it ourselves, we gather wild and abundant weeds from nearby lands and source high quality herbs from US herb farms we love.

Do you offer subscriptions?
